Meet Groovescapes

The Groovescapes Team

Jack Taylor Gray (right) is a native of New Orleans, though incredibly naive. As a budding local entertainment attorney, you can find him chasing ambulances carrying people with melted faces and blown eardrums. He’s also a freelance writer for local magazines Where Y’at and All Yalls Music, and a sometimes-contributor to The Barryfest Chronicles. On the weekends he’s better known as Matt’s Sidekick on “The Matt & Jack Podvast,” though he’s also the main character in his own story. If you want proof, follow him @JacksonGravy.

Matt Rosenthal (left) was born in Boston, grew up in Chicago, worked in Minneapolis and has been living in New Orleans’ Lower Garden District since 2008.  When he is not taking in a live show, emptying his wallet into a jukebox or defending the transcendent genius of Steely Dan, you can find Matt on the open-mic circuit as one half of acoustic cover band Bad Sneakers or on the internet as the producer and co-host of “The Matt & Jack Podvast”, a semi-regular discussion about pop culture, current events, and – of course – local New Orleans music.

“The Barryfest Chronicles” is http://barryfest.com and The Matt & Jack Podcast is, again, http://barryfest.com/tagged/podvast

Aaron Lafont (middle) grew in Lafourche Parish, roughly an hour south of New Orleans. While enrolled at LSU, he began writing about music in 2006, reviewing albums for the British websites NeuMagazine.co.uk and ThisIsFakeDIY.co.uk. He soon began covering the live music scene in New Orleans for JamBase.com, following graduation in 2007, he moved to the city. In 2008 he founded Groovescapes.com, an online publication focusing on the local music scene. Also since 2008 he has been a regular contributor to Offbeat magazine.
