Around here, St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just a great day for the Irish, it’s a great day for everyone! The city fills with colorful parades and parties, all in celebration of the “Auld Sod.” Given the Crescent City has been celebrating this holiday for nearly 70 years, we have picked up a few traditions along the way. One being that some parades pass out all of the ingredients for a delicious stew. Yes, that’s right – you could get carrots, cabbage and potatoes and if you do, you should consider yourself quite lucky. Oh, and I should warn you, don’t be surprised if someone plants a wet one on you along the way. Many of the walking groups from different clubs hand out flowers and free kisses along the parade route so go ahead and start coating your lips in chapstick and while you’re at it, be sure to check out what five festivities we recommend attending in celebration and our GoNOLA Radio episode on the Emerald Isle Holiday!
