There’s so much to do, see and eat in New Orleans that it can sometimes be overwhelming. Often there’s the “so much to do, so little time” dilemma when visiting this city. To maximize on fun times and ensure no party fouls are committed, the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation has bundled all the best of the city into one nicely packaged smart phone app, we affectionately call GO NOLA. Nice job on the name, guys.
The app is attractive, fun, and very user friendly, just like New Orleans. In addition to a directory of all the best places to stay, dine, party, see music, tour and shop, there’s a couple cameos made by local heroes and national celebrities John Goodman and Wendell Pierce. The beloved actors give each user a private digital tour of the riverfront and the Treme neighborhood to give an authentic inside glimpse into New Orleans. This interactive feature is worth the download alone, letting users see a high quality guided tour of the city wherever and whenever they want.
GO NOLA is the first and only official New Orleans visitor app, making us certifiable tech geeks, and proud of it. The app is geared towards visitors to New Orleans, but we predict locals will find just as much use in it and might even learn something, whether they are willing to admit it or not.
The app is completely free and will serve as a very handy (no pun intended) resource for anyone planning a brief – or extended – stay in New Orleans. Don’t have the app yet? See what you’re missing by downloading it for free on iTunes. Happy exploring!
