For the past 48 hours, there’ve been two types of people in New Orleans. Those who begin to dry heave at the notion of any more Mardi Gras or those who claim they could do it all over again. For those on the latter side of the post-Mardi Gras spectrum or even those suffering from P.C.D. (Post Carnival Depression), this weekend will get everyone back on track. There’s a variety of amped up events and conversely, low key activities (see: Oscar mania) to enjoy. Farewell Mardi Gras, welcome back relatively normal life.

Friday, February 24:

1. Katy Red, Big Freedia and Friends – New Orleans is proud to claim the international phenomenon known as Sissy Bounce as its own indigenous treasure. Just one more reason why New Orleans is fabulously unique, these brawny ladies are leading a new wave of bounce rap, that sub genre that causes any booty in the room to begin to shake. Siberia on St. Claude Avenue in the Marigny is hosting a FUNdraiser starting at 10 p.m. to help send the NOLA Queens of Bounce, Katy Red, Big Freedia, Magnolia Rhome, JC Styles and DJ Shay to Austin, TX for the SXSW music festival.

Saturday, February 25:

2. Drake – The chart-topping hip hop sensation is headlining the New Orleans Arena with opening artists A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar. Let the weekend of dance-inducing concerts continue and see the incredible entertainers perform starting at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase online.

Sunday, February 26:

3. Prytania’s Oscar Party – The Oscars are this Sunday night and there’s many different viewing parties around the city, each offering their own special experience. The Prytania Theater is a historical landmark which has made its way into many literary classics and exudes its old New Orleans charm. For many years, the NOFS has hosted an Oscar viewing party projected on the theater’s big screen. Red Carpet dress or costume attire is encouraged and trivia will be played with prizes awarded. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:00 p.m. A donation of $20 for NOFS members and $25 for non members is suggested.

4. Finn McCool’s Oscar Party – For a less formal Oscar watching experience, head to Finn McCool’s in Mid-City. Besides the festive atmosphere, good neighborhood vibes and delicious food, there will be a $1 voting pool based on Oscar predictions. Find a seat at the bar or at a table with friends, grab a pint of Guinness and watch all the glamorous celebrities on one of the Irish sports bar’s many TV screens.

5. Westin Canal Place Oscar Party – To feel as involved with the actual Oscar’s without being in Hollywood, come to the Westin Canal Place for their fancy and elegant Oscar party. Mingle with fellow film buffs in the exquisite Plimsoll Club on the 11th floor and sip custom cocktails. Fill out a prediction sheet for a chance to win a one night stay at the hotel complete with dinner for two at The Green Bar for the person who has the most correct Oscar predictions.
