GoNOLA Flickr Pick of the Week: Mystic Krewe of Barkus

In New Orleans, dogs are royalty, too. This Sunday is the 20th annual Barkus parade. This year’s theme is Mission: Impossible – Canine Protocol, Armstrong Bark Reloaded. The parade of hairy cuteness is as ridiculous as it is adorable. This year’s king is Wally Dedrick, a Golden Doodle service dog who loves to swim and jet set; he spent five weeks in Mexico during Summer 2012. Wally will be reigning with Barkus Queen Maggie, a beautiful and gentle Labrador. See Wally, Maggie and the rest of the proud pubs parade through the French Quarter at 2:00 p.m.
