Mardi Gras is an incendiary celebration of life. Moreover, it’s a celebration of New Orleans culture. Even though Carnival is broken down into individual parades and parties, the entire experience feels more like a blanketed state of mind. The elaborate details of the costumes and floats seem intangible, like they’re crafted in a magical factory and summoned instantly by the Carnival gods at parade time. Actually, all of that is pretty much true except for the instant part. At Blaine Kern’s Mardi Gras World, the Mardi Gras elves work year-round to produce the beautiful spectacles we see rolling down the parade route every year. Luckily, Mardi Gras World has daily public tours from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to see what happens behind the curtains. Discover how the magic is made just in time for Mardi Gras, all for the bargain price of $19.95 for adults, $15.95 for seniors and $12.95 for kids. Tis the season!
