‘Tis the season … to shop long, and shop hard! With Merriment on Magazine kicking off next Saturday, December 3, you will now get your chance to visit shops at later-than-usual hours. Every Saturday between December 3 and Christmas Eve, merchants on Magazine are strongly encouraged to extend their business hours until at least 7:00 p.m. This event is organized by the Magazine Street Merchants Association and sponsored this year by Iberia Bank & Mahony’s Po-Boy Shop.
The official kickoff takes place on Saturday, December 3, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Expect to see some of the following: Santa Claus visits, Christmas caroling, trunk shows, refreshments, art openings and more. Check out the Facebook event page – there will be daily giveaway contests and a storefront decorating contest that patrons vote for through Facebook.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished that my favorite stores on Magazine were open later than 5:00 or 6:00 p.m.! I’m excited for the extended hours and plan to take full advantage of the opportunity to shop later in the day.
