This weekend is fall’s main event in New Orleans. It is dominated by Voodoo Festival and Halloween and the before and aftermath of both. The city transforms into a huge costume party, much like Mardi Gras but with more Twilight-themes than royal ones. This is a time for everyone regardless of who they are or where they come from to get their spook, their dance and their party on. This is Halloween weekend in New Orleans.

All Weekend:

1. Voodoo Music Experience – Apparently, we can’t express just how much we’re excited for the Voodoo music festival this weekend! We’ve told you why you should go, but here’s our closing argument. See your favorite bands past and present in an artistic interactive wonderland of majestic City Park. It’s a great way to get pumped up for late-night Halloween adventures!

2. Halloween 28 – New Orleans has been deemed the best city for Halloween by the GLBT community. This could be due to the fact that New Orleans in general is a gay travel destination, Halloween is possibly the most fun and festive in New Orleans than anywhere else or because of Halloween 28. There are fabulous events Friday, Saturday and Sunday which involve mostly dancing and unabashed celebration. All the fun will go to benefiting Project Lazarus, a service home for people living with AIDS in New Orleans.

3. ItsyBitsyTeenyHalloweeny Festival – Think of the ItsyBitsyTeenyWeeny Festival as the kid brother or sister of the much larger and hyped Voodoo Festival. As the name suggests, it’s a little music festival consisting of great local and touring indie rock and pop bands like Vox & The Hound, Tiny Victories and the debut of The Essentials – New Orleans’ comprehensive Motown and Soul cover band. The festival is Friday-Monday at the Unfold Media studio in the French Quarter.

4. Rocky Horror Picture Show – The cult classic comes to Prytania Theatre Friday, Saturday and Monday (Halloween). Get in the Halloween spirit with Dr. Frank-N-Furter and friends. Sing along and do the Time Warp before the witching hour starts!

Sunday:

5. Bingo! Show – Seeing the Bingo! Show on Halloween Eve is just the thing to complete your Halloween experience. The Bingo! Show is a musical, theatrical New Orleans circus troupe that falls into their own genre. Whether they are parading around the French Quarter or the stage at One Eyed Jack’s like they will be on Sunday, they are already dressed for Halloween and toting instruments of whimsical noise.

Honorable mention: Crawloween for kids at the Insectarium, Boat Rides of Terror in the swamp of Jean Lafitte National Park and all the other fun Halloween activities!
