I once read a quote that said something like, “you know you’re from New Orleans when you think Purple, Green and Gold look good together.” And, at first read I was slightly offended because those colors look great together. And, after some thought, I realized that, in fact, they don’t really look all that great together but, as a native New Orleanian, they are colors that I can’t imagine not being together. Mardi Gras has, and probably always will be, one of my favorite “holidays” and with Fat Tuesday just 144 days away, I am counting down until I can wear my Purple, Green & Gold, pull out all of those crazy decorations and shout at the top of my lungs “throw me somethin’ mistah!” If you’ve never experienced Mardi Gras in New Orleans, you don’t know what you’re missing.
