Fall is in the New Orleans air, which means there’s a plethora of awesomeness to choose from every weekend, this weekend being no exception. An electronic dance-rock show, two beer-centered afternoons, a Tony Award winning play and fall’s premier art event all headline the weekend. Which one – or ones if you’re socially ambitious like we are – will you be attending?
Friday, September 30:
1. Junior Boys – The electronic dance master duo is back at One Eyed Jack’s Friday night. Stopping by on their international tour before they cross the Atlantic, they bring their sensuous vocals and beats that keep hips swaying and feet moving. The song “Banana Ripple” from the new album It’s All True streaming on their website never loses steam during its 9+ minutes and neither will their performance. Doors open at 9 pm; tickets are $12 online and $15 at the door.
Saturday, October 1:
2. NOLA on Tap – Simple pleasures are what make life worth living which is why New Orleans On Tap, a day of dogs, beer and City Park will make all who attend achieve Nirvana. And to think all proceeds from tasting any of the 200 beers on tap go to support the Louisiana SPCA lets you know you’re doing your part while thoroughly enjoying it.
3. Broussard’s Oktoberfest – Put on your best dirndl or lederhosen and head to Broussard’s in the French Quarter for a chance to win their Oktoberfest costume contest! Also, for a mere $10, enjoy a bratwurst menu of five gourmet selections and strudel for dessert. Not to mention all the St. Pauli Girl, Beck’s and other German brews as well as inspired domestic options like Abita Fall Fest and Brooklyn Oktoberfest you can drink from 11 am to 9 pm.
4. Art for Art’s Sake – Strut yourself down Magazine Street, drink in hand, while looking at fine art and be nouveau riche for a night in New Orleans at Art for Art’s Sake. At art galleries and stores all along Magazine and Julia street will be artists’ opening receptions and the best merchandise and couture from stores like House of Lounge, Funky Monkey, Mignon Faget and Berta’s and Mina’s Antiquities Gallery. Join the art walk from 6-9 pm then head over to the CAC for a free after party from 9-11 pm.
Sunday, October 2:
