Louisiana Seafood Restaurant Week: A September Celebration in New Orleans

The food in New Orleans is pretty fantastic. Much of its amazing life and flavor is provided by local ingredients, such as Louisiana seafood. And because we love a good party, we thought this deserved celebrating. Well, it was actually the folks over at We Live to Eat, but we’re telling you about it so maybe we can get a little of the credit? While the Louisiana Seafood Resturant Week is specifically designed to celebrate the “art and appreciation of dining in New Orleans,” it does so with a specific nod towards homegrown seafood.

From September 12-18, more than thirty New Orleans restaurants will try to wow you with great eats, cheap prices and fantastic dishes featuring Louisiana seafood. The rules are simple, (most) participating restaurants will have two-course lunches for $20 and three-course dinners for $35, with at least one Louisiana seafood option. Sounds good, right? Well it only gets better. The participating restaurants include just about every New Orleans dining heavyweight, Commander’s Palace, Galatoire’s and Restaurant August, to name a few.

Can’t make your way near the foot of Canal Street or down to the Lower Garden District? You’ll be able to find participating restaurants all over the metro area! Taking in the sights at the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park? Stop by Mondo for dinner. Catching a performance at the Mahalia Jackson Theater? Grab lunch at Domenica before hand or head to the Sazerac Restaurant for dinner afterwards. Don’t forget to try the namesake drink if you haven’t already! Enjoying all Audubon Park has to offer or perhaps you’re spending the day marveling at the stately homes on St. Charles Avenue? Brigtsen’s in the Riverbend is your ticket to restaurant week.
