1. Commander’s Palace
It’s no wonder one of New Orleans’ most cherished institutions and Zagat’s most popular local restaurant for 18 years makes the list. While this is the most classic recipe of the selections, it’s also the largest. With a massive portion, a plentiful caramel crust atop a plate of silky custard and a signature powdered sugar fleur de lis stamp, you can’t go wrong with this crème brulee.

2. NOLA
Why have one when you can have three? One of Chef Emeril’s newer restaurants in the French Quarter, NOLA, boasts a trio of crème brulees on the dessert menu. How’s this for mouth watering flavors: vanilla bean with fresh berries, coconut with a coconut truffle and mocha with chocolate-almond biscotti. You can have it all at NOLA.

3. The Bistro at Maison de Ville
Are you a chocolate or vanilla person? Well, you can be both at this Parisian bistro-inspired French Quarter restaurant inside the Maison de Ville hotel with their vanilla bean or decadent chocolate crème brulee.

4. Pelican Bar at The Sheraton
At the Pelican Bar, you can feel like you’re outside without actually going outside. The décor is designed after a luxurious French Quarter courtyard featuring a fountain, wrought iron detail and tropical plants abound. Oh yeah, and they have a sweet potato crème brulee which is enough to send us running.

5. La Divina Gelateria
With a focus on the freshest, local organic ingredients, la Divina – quoted by the New York Post as “some of the best gelato artisans in the United States” – has an array of flavors to choose from including one of the fan favorites, crème brulee. Try la Divina if you want a non-traditional spin on the dish.

Happy National Crème Brulee Day!
