Any good Southern belle knows that makeup is an important component of looking ones best and presenting a complete and polished image. Well, apparently I didn’t get the memo since I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis. My makeup bag consists of mostly stuff more suited to Mardi Gras costumes than everyday wear, but recently I needed to revamp my collection for a more professional look.
So I called up a trusted friend and beauty blogger Leslie Almeida of UNMADE and we hit up Pixie, a cute little cosmetics studio located on Magazine Street just a block from Whole Foods. We planned to make a day of it, running around town finding the perfect palettes, but Pixie proved to be a one-stop shop. They offer exclusive cosmetics and makeup services including in-studio applications for commercial/print work and other special occasions. And ladies having a destination wedding in New Orleans listen up! They offer in-studio bridal party services, too! Looking pale? Get an airbrush tan or just a really great bronzer while you are here.
They also specialize in lessons focusing on your needs and can customize a look to suit your lifestyle. I got great tips on which colors to wear to bring out my eyes and what the perfect shade of mascara is for me (dark brown). I even brought my meager makeup from home and they kindly helped me figure out which products to keep, which to toss, and what to purchase that day. They are also glad to order an item for you if they are out of stock.
