Big History is an up-and-coming NOLA-based electronica band. Blandon Helgason recently called in to discuss the band’s origins, their songwriting process, and creating a sound that is unique. With influences from hip-hop to disco and even motown, their music will keep you dancing all night long! It does seem like you guys have a bunch of different sounds going on in the tracks, but you do your own spin on the dancey vibes.

Blandon Helgason: We try to keep the backbone of the song based around really dancey beats, whether it be disco or even hip hop. The new thing we are writing features a Motown-ish beat. As long as it keeps the whole four-on-the-floor, people moving, you can add whatever elements you think are best for the song. That’s pretty much what our goal is for now.
