Dine out for a great cause!
1. Dining Out For Life: New Orleans: Give your kitchen a break and head to one of the 75 New Orleans restaurants participating in this year’s Dining Out For Life event. Participating restaurants will donate 25% of each bill from July 14th to the NO/AIDS Task Force. This year marks the 16th anniversary for this culinary fundraiser and co-chairs Tom Fitzmorris and Susan Spicer help to raise funds and awareness for this remarkable charity.
Friday, July 15th:
2. New Orleans Museum of Art: Open ‘Till 1AM: In honor of the closing weekend of the Ancestors of Congo Square Exhibit, NOMA will be open until 1AM this Friday. From 5:30PM – 8:30PM enjoy the music of Bamboula 2000, at 6PM walk through the exhibit with Dr. Sara Hollis, and from 9PM – Midnight listen to the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. It’s an awesome opportunity to enjoy NOMA in a whole new light!
Saturday, July 16th:
3. New Orleans Ladies Arm Wrestling Competition: Flex those biceps and head to The Rusty Nail bar at 8PM to check out the New Orleans Ladies Arm Wrestlers compete in an arm wrestling competition complete with wrestler monikers, theme songs, and theatrics. Money raised at the event will benefit BreakOUT! a New Orleans non-profit supporting LGBTQ youth.
4. John Boutte at D.B.A.: Head to D.B.A. at 8PM on Saturday to catch legendary New Orleans jazz vocalist John Boutte. Named Gambit Weekly’s 2011 Entertainer of the Year, Boutte is sure to put on an incredible performance. Tickets are only $5, so there’s no reason to miss out!
Sunday, July 17th:
5. Margie Perez at Maison: Head down to Maison on Frenchman Street to see New Orleans-based vocalist Margie Perez as she mixes her blend of New Orleans funk, soul and pop! Show is at 10PM.
