This weekend, New Orleans really runs the gamut of fun and exciting events. From historic music in City Park to arena football and the New Orleans Oyster Festival, there’s sure to be plenty of good times to go around. So put on your dancin’ shoes, grab your friends and family and check out these five awesome things to do in New Orleans this weekend!

Thursday, June 2nd:

Twilight garden concert at New Orleans' City Park

1. Twilight Garden Concert at City Park: Musica da Camera: Start the weekend out with the arts as you enjoy this twilight performance in the Botanical Gardens – Pavilion of the Two Sisters at New Orleans City Park. Enjoy the music of the 10th through the 16th centuries as you sip a mint julep. Food, wine, beer and other beverages are available for purchase. Event opens at 5PM, performance begins at 6PM.  Tickets are $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 5-12 and free for children under age 4.

Friday, June 3rd:

2. New Orleans VooDoo vs. Jacksonville Sharks: Come out to the New Orleans Arena to watch the New Orleans Voodoo, our arena football team, play the Jacksonville Sharks. If you haven’t been to an arena football game, this is a must-attend event! The field may be half the size of the Superdome but the fun is just as big. VooDoo games are fun to attend with friends and make for a great night out that the whole family will love! Game starts at 8PM; Tickets are $6.00 and up.

Saturday, June 4th:

New Orleans Oyster Festival to take place in the French Quarter

3. New Orleans Oyster Festival (June 4th & 5th): In its second year, the New Orleans Oyster Festival in the French Quarter will feature live music, delicious oyster-centered dishes from over 20 New Orleans restaurants and fun oyster-themed events. Try some new creative ways to enjoy oysters while you watch the oyster shucking contest or work up an appetite dancing to Bag of Donuts or New Orleans favorite Irma Thomas.

4. Toots and the Maytals at House of Blues: Since their first album in 1964, this Grammy-winning reggae/funk/soul group has been an inspiration in the music scene. Don’t miss a chance to hear them jam live in the intimate space at the House of Blues.  Doors open at 7PM, Show starts at 8PM, Tickets are $26.50, Show is 18+.

Sunday, June 5th:

5. Joe Krown Trio at the Maple Leaf Bar: Check out this New Orleans R&B/Funk trio (Joe Krown, Walter “Wolfman” Washington and Russell Batiste) on Sunday night for a great way to close out the weekend. Incredibly talented on their own, this legendary trio will blow you away.  They’ve brought down the house at the Maple Leaf for years and even recorded a Live At the Maple Leaf album there in 2008. Tickets are only $8 — a small price to pay to see three legendary artists and to keep the weekend alive for a few extra hours.
