New Orleans locals and visitors alike know and love the award-winning day spa Belladonna, not only for the soothing therapies for the body, but for the excellent retail therapy in the huge shop in front of the spa.

Owner Kim Dudek has combined her love and activist advocacy for animals along with her spa expertise in opening this new member of her retail family, Belladoggie, at 815 Washington Avenue (around the corner from Belladonna).

As the first of its kind in the country, Belladoggie offers heaven and healing for canines on all levels. In over 29,000 square feet, not only does it provide boarding and day care, it offers services like grooming, fitness and conditioning. Strengthening is achieved through the use of heated underwater “endless swim” pools and treadmills. And with its canine rehabilitation equipment on hand at Dudek’s non-profit Dag’s House, owners have options for both the healthy and special needs dogs.

It’s a one stop shop for all your dog needs with all of its offered services and enormous pet store! Featuring all kinds of dog products from foods, vitamins, essential oils and flower essences, treats, toys, DVDs, cards, beds, cute outfits, and more! It sounds like spa goodies for people, but it’s for pets!

The huge space was once an orphanage and Dudek rescued the crumbling building after Hurricane Katrina.  It has taken her years to lovingly renovate the space and realize her dream, and with savvy design, bright designer colors and wonderful furnishings, I can tell you it’s worth the wait. The outside is absolutely charming with its larger-than-life custom made sculptures in the form of topiary of dogs in all kinds of action poses.

Locals love Belladoggie for daycare and grooming, and of course for all the fabulous shopping.
