Galactic is easily one of the most well known jam-bands to come out of New Orleans and with hit records like Ya-Ka-May, it’s no wonder why. The band, which was originally founded in 1994, is comprised of five regular members — Stanton Moore (Drums), Richard Vogel (Keyboard), Jeff Raines (Guitar), Robert Mercurio (Bass) and Ben Ellman (saxophone, harmonica). During live performances and tours it’s not unusual to see other famous musicians, like Cyril Neville in this video, who join the group as a vocalist. Galactic tours the country every year and will be playing large festivals like Hangout Festival, Wakarusa and Bonaroo and has regular performances in New Orleans, like the Maple Leaf Bar on May 20 and Wednesday at the Square on June 8.
