Widespread Panic’s Jo Jo Hermann: An Interview with a Defender of New Orleans Music

John JoJo Hermann is the keyboard player for Georgia-based band Widespread Panic. He is also the leader of JoJo’s Mardi Gras Band. He has been heavily influenced by the work of New Orleans piano master Professor Longhair. Panic has a storied history with New Orleans, including sets at Jazz Fest and epic Halloween runs. JoJo is performing, along with other musical greats such as George Porter, Marcia Ball and John “Papa” Gros, at Down on the Bayou III, a benefit for the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic, May 5th, at the Howlin’ Wolf.
