Lamb sliders, pork bellies and duck confit egg rolls…oh my! Everyone is raving about the food from Three Muses on Frenchmen Street, which is indisputably delicious so it’s not hard to see why. With Chef Daniel Esses at the helm, the Spanish-style tapas menu is always interesting, ever-changing and bound to blow you away. You might be packed in a bit too tightly between the gorgeous, wood-paneled walls and the gargantuan bar, but don’t let that distract you from passing around a few plates of ingenious bliss.
How about Gulf oysters wrapped in bacon and drizzled with a pickled jalapeño vinaigrette, Banana Mascarpone Strudel with rum butter and Mexican-chocolate ice cream or flaky rabbit empanadas with sun-dried tomato aioli? I bet it’s already got you drooling, but that’s not all…
Putting the food aside (if you can), it’s difficult to forget you’re on Frenchmen Street, the place to be in New Orleans for the most eclectic mix of music, from funky Latin beats to traditional jazz. Inside Three Muses, you can catch the rhythms of artists like Glen David Andrews, Leon “Kid Chocolate” Brown and The Luke Winslow King Quartet.
Finally, don’t forget the fabulously concocted cocktails, because Three Muses is a bar after all. For example, you can try their namesake “The Muse,” a refreshing combination of muddled cucumbers and strawberries with St. Germain elderflower liqueur and Plymouth Gin. It’s herbal aroma and mildly fruity flavors are a sweet concoction to start off your night.
Seeking something simpler? Try one of their truly authentic Caipirinhas made with cachaça, sugar and lime. The sugarcane-distilled liquor packs a decidedly wicked punch that’ll have you dancing in the street . . . if the music of Frenchmen doesn’t inebriate you first.
