“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”  Yep, college bowl games are coming.  And where in New Orleans can you park yourself in front of a TV, drink freshly brewed award-winning beer, and munch on Glazed Chicken Wings, Shrimp and Chicken Pot stickers, or Grilled Chicken Skewers?  If the answer is not your house (and I’m jealous if it is), then it’s definitely Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant in downtown New Orleans.

In town for the Sugar Bowl, or just because?   Gordon Biersch’s patio area on Fulton Street is ideal for you to catch up on all the games before and after the one that matters most to you.  “The Miracle on Fulton Street” is still in full effect until January 3, 2011, providing fake snow and live entertainment to add to your dining/beer tasting/game watching experience.

Brew Masters

Hefewiezen anyone?  What about Shwarzbier?  Okay, I give up.  Good thing I don’t have to pronounce it in order to drink it.  I just have to point and smile.  These are just two of the award winning beers that Gordon Biersch offers for your enjoyment during any of the games showing on one of the five flat-screen-TVs at the bar or on the patio.  Whether you’re a beer tasting novice, or a self-proclaimed connoisseur like my father, Gordon Biersch definitely has something that’s both gratifying and probably hard to say.  Trust me, just point to the beer you want on the menu; the waiters will appreciate it.  As you’re cheering on your Alma mater, take a look around the bar.  See those huge fermenting and serving vessels that look like NASA could’ve created them…that’s where the beer-making magic happens.  This is why Gordon Biersch constantly cleans up at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival.  But down here, that’s a just a fancy way of saying that you’ve got some good stuff in your glass, so drink up.
