The Bulldog Mid-City: Have a Doggone Good Time in NOLA

I am not a beer drinker.

I’ve never understood the differences between ales, lagers or pilsners.  I don’t care to distinguish the different flavors and personalities between light beers and dark beers.  The thought of drinking 50 beers from 50 different countries around the world does not excite me.

However, if you’re not like me, and you do appreciate a good beer, then look no further than The Bulldog Mid-City.  But even if you are like me, you will still appreciate all that this beer tavern has to offer.

There are plenty of tables and even a few couches inside for seating, but it’s the courtyard that I really love.  The courtyard is the perfect place to just sit outside and have a drink with friends; especially during months like this when the weather is just beautiful. And don’t be surprised to find some four-legged friends hanging around too.  The Bulldogs (one in Mid-City and the other in Uptown) are both dog-friendly, and there are always a few pups lounging around, people watching, or getting to know other dogs.

Every Wednesday–which also happens to be my favorite day to go–they feature a collectible pint glass that is designed by a different person each week.   And the best part is, they allow you to take home the free collectible pint glasses with every pint you buy.  That’s right!  I said FREE!

Of course, if you’re like me, and you don’t drink beer, you can always buy a beer for a stranger and ask them to give you their glass when finished, or you can ask one of the many friendly people that hang out at the bar.  Either way, you are bound to make a new friend, and leave with a free glass or two… or twelve.

I say again, I am not a beer drinker.

But I do love a good bar.  And the Bulldog Mid-City is one of my favorite neighborhood bars in the city.

Yes, they are big on the beer, as is proven by their extensive selection, but they also have a full bar that will satisfy nearly every taste.  With a Happy Hour from 2pm to 7pm on the weekdays, and one delicious bar food menu, everyone is sure to have a good time.
