New Orleans Nights in White Linen

White Linen Night is one the most talked about art events of the year and it’s all happening this Saturday, August 7th, from 6-9pm. Of course the appropriate outfit  is white linen, but how do you stand out in a sea of white while still fitting in with the theme?

I’ve asked two local boutiques to show GoNOLA readers how it’s done.

Swap Boutique is a consignment store on Maple St. that specializes in high-end items. You can even buy things through their Ebay store if you can’t make it to the shop.

Think of this dress as a blank canvas and experiment with bold accessories and colors. Now’s the time to showcase a statement necklace or earrings!

Pile on colorful accessories to brighten up this look.

Embroidery adds interest to this sweet blouse.  A black skirt or shorts balances  out the color on top while keeping in theme.

This blouse practically begs for a floppy, wide brimmed hat.

Why wear jeans when linen pants are such a viable option? Pair them with simple flat sandals for a casual, easy look.

This outfit is light and airy, perfect for art on an August night.

Blink is a trend-driven store on Magazine St. that rotates their stock often so they always have fresh fashion finds.

Feel like a goddess in this dress with Grecian-like draping.

Add a belt for extra interest.

Keep it light and breezy with wide leg linen pants and a tank top.

An armful of bangles would be a nice finish to the look.

Or you can sass it up in this body-conscience studded dress. Keep the accessories simple with this one!

Strong heels and a muted gold clutch would be perfect.

Gentleman y’all haven’t been forgotten! Rubenstein’s is offering 25% off their white linen suits just in time for the event.

And congratulations to our men’s makeover contest winner, Dante Pierson! Stay tuned next week when I introduce him and his fabulous new look on GoNOLA.com.
